let's go...antiquing!
last year i (somewhat unknowingly) began an annual tradition to visit the aberfoyle antiques market in guelph. now, i can’t think of a more enjoyable way to spend a sunday. along with endless inspiration in the hat department, i’ve managed to collect many treasures that have been incorporated into many of my petit beret photoshoots and displays.
here are some of my favourite bits and...

i’ve counted sonia delaunay as one of my long time inspirations (colour-wise, design-wise, everything-wise), but i’ve been particularly enamoured with her lately. here are a few nuggets for your viewing pleasure.

hey, spring.
i’m ready for you now.
in the meantime- here are some inspirational tidbits for the latest spring/summer collection. i’ve been thinking a lot of childhood hobbies, handicrafts and odd past times…more to come soon.

i’m so glad that my dear friend randi (also known as the online editor of Fashion Magazine) convinced me to get over my stage fright- because this beauiful video is the result. plus i get to talk about my three of my favourite things- fashion, ballet and (of course) berets.

double double.
toronto life gave le petit beret not one, but TWO shoutouts in their January issue (yes, i know- a tad bit of a delayed reaction on this one, but very exciting nonetheless).
first, a petit mention as one of the “gems” at my lovely friend jenn’s equally lovely shop, Tabula Rasa. (it really is one of the best shops, vintage or otherwise, in the city- do yourself a favour and head...

in an attempt to start 2011 (aka the year of greatness) off properly, I have made a not very original resolution to be more organized.
i finally organized my old file folder, and in the process found a few gems which i’ll be sharing over the next little while.
i came across one of my first illustrations that included the pencil outline of what would eventually become le petit beret. i...

obviously it’s an understatement to say the world has been in quite a tizzy about the upcoming nuptials, but for a milliner like me it’s exciting to hear about so many hat themed parties and events popping up in toronto this year as a result.

inevitable winter/ the birth of the "torque".
it’s hard to imagine winter will soon be here, especially after this year’s freakishly glorious summer. a couple of short months ago i was still picnic-ing, breezing about the city in inappropriately short shorts and sandaled feet, eating too many ice cream cones, frolicking, etc., etc., and generally doing all of the amazing things that one can (and must) do only in the summer.
